More than 21 degrees Celsius in our home in Vancouver, my 7-year-old daughter was playing with her dolls while I was immersed in my studies for my exam. In a tiny and mischievous voice, she asked, “When is Children’s Day?”
“Everyday is Children’s Day,” I answered with a smile on my face.
“But is there a Mother’s Day?”
“Yes.” Thinking about whether I should justify the rationality behind the lack of Children’s Day and why Mother’s Day is celebrated annually, I told her, “One day you’ll be a mother…”
“I don’t wanna be a mother because I will have to work. I just want to play!” she snapped.
